Looking to make the most of Lexia PowerUp on your mobile devices? We have some tips for you!
Lexia is a powerful reading intervention platform that teaches and tasks students with lessons appropriate to their specific skill levels. As students progress through the platform’s stages of learning, teachers can view student data through MyLexia and step in to provide direct instruction when needed.
MyLexia, the platform’s educator tool, provides class overviews as well as individual student data teachers can use to troubleshoot areas where students may need additional support. You can access the tool via a desktop computer or mobile device, but there are some key differences you should be aware of.
In this article, we’re giving you a few tips for using Lexia PowerUp on iPads or Android tablets, and by the end, you’ll be able to maneuver through MyLexia on your mobile devices like a pro. Ready to power up? Let’s take a look!
Before We Begin
Lexia offers two platforms for reading intervention, Core5 and PowerUp. Core5 targets grade levels K-5 while PowerUp targets 6-8, and this article pertains to the latter. If your classroom is using Core5, some of the details we’re covering here may not apply. We’re talking specifically about Lexia PowerUp here, so keep this in mind as you read through.
Lexia PowerUp on Mobile Devices
Desktop vs. Mobile View
There is no mobile version of MyLexia, so the page layout on a tablet mirrors that of a desktop with one exception. The right sidebar, which features many key links, tools, and statistics, is hidden from immediate view.
On the desktop version of MyLexia, there is a sidebar on the homepage containing a link to various resources as well as a “Skill Status” and “Usage” module.
This sidebar is not visible on the iPad equivalent of MyLexia and seems like a disappointing removal of key functionality at first glance. Fortunately, you can still access the same information by clicking on the “Reports & Resources” tab, located just above the student table.
MyLexia App
Lexia’s mobile app for educators is available on both iOS and Android devices, and it makes reviewing data on the fly super simple in the classroom. Teachers with tablets can move from one student to the next with each student’s PowerUp data right at their fingertips.
Some teachers are only able to access MyLexia by logging in to their district’s education portal. After logging into a portal, such as Clever, clicking on the MyLexia app icon instantly takes you to the platform’s webpage where you can view all of your student data. In this case, you don’t need login information, as accessing Lexia through a portal bypassed the need to type in your credentials.
The MyLexia app for mobile devices requires you to login, even when you reach it through a portal. You may be prompted to download or open the app, but you’ll still need to provide your email and password to make it to the class overview. If your school district does not issue Lexia passwords to teachers (as in our case), using the mobile app may be out of the question. You’ll need to request this information
